This Week's Must-Have

Barbecue Crisps

Light, airy potato crisps covered in smoky barbecue flavor make the perfect savory snack.

Nothing pairs with a backyard cookout quite like crunchy barbecue potato chips, and we've officially found our summer favorite. Pirate Brands Homestyle Barbecue Potato Flyers don't skimp on the smoky, tangy flavor we love, and each airy crisp packs a seriously satisfying crunch. Unlike ordinary chips, Flyers are baked, giving them half the fat of regular chips and fewer calories. Just like ordinary chips, they're incredibly addicting, and we're not complaining. Whether it's stacking our veggie burgers high with these tasty ‘taters or snacking straight from the bag, the VN staff is sure to have tell-tale orange-tinted fingertips all summer long.

I didn't find these to be too BBq-y, if at all. Tangy (ie: salty), yes, but not really smoky. Quite disappointing, though, these flyers have lost their yum factor quite some time ago when they reshaped them to look like the cookie cutter, flat, flying saucer-like discs that all soy crisps are shaped like; they lost all that great crunch they used to have, which was it's redeeming factor. To be honest, though, I have yet to find a really tasty BBQ snack that ISN'T a fried potato chip.
